Japanese Clothing Imports Fell For 7 Consecutive Months

Japan Textile Importers Association reported that in January 2010, Japan's clothing imports fell 23.7%, down to 154 billion 75 million yen; as a result, imports fell for two consecutive months in 7 months.

In terms of quantity, imports fell by 19.4% to 284 million 561 thousand year-on-year.


Imports from China dropped by 26.2% to 128 billion 242 million yen, and imports dropped by 21.9% to 253 million 131 thousand.

In addition, imports and imports from India, Indonesia and Bangladesh have increased, especially from Bangladesh, which has increased by 230% over the previous year, reaching 1 billion 90 million yen, and imports increased by 340% over the same period last year, reaching 3 million 472 thousand.
