Macao'S Second Quarter Retail Sales And Leather Goods Are Down 14%

According to the statistics and Census Bureau of Macao, the total sales volume of retail trade in the second quarter of 2014 was 16 billion 370 million yuan (Macao yuan, the same below), which was 11% lower than the revised 18 billion 370 million yuan in the first quarter.

The sales of clocks and jewellery were 4 billion 200 million yuan (26%), 17% of department stores, 10% of leather goods and adult clothing, 7% of automobiles and 6% of goods from supermarkets.

Retail sales increased by 3% in the second quarter of 2014, and the higher retail businesses included +49%, +25%, +24% and +24%.

In the same quarter, sales of gold ornaments increased sharply during the same quarter of 2013. Sales of clocks and jewellery fell by 22% in the second quarter of 2014.

Retail sales in the first half of 2014 amounted to 34 billion 740 million yuan, an annual increase of 9%.

Eliminate

The volume of retail sales increased by 4% in the second quarter of 2014. The increase was more pronounced in motorcycles and spare parts (+61%), Chinese food letters (+36%), seafood (+29%), household appliances (+28%) and adult wear (+23%).

Watches and jewellery fell by 19%.

The second quarter sales volume decreased by 11% on a quarterly basis, with the largest decline in watches and jewellery (-24%), department stores (-15%), leather goods products (-14%) and household appliances (-12%). On the other hand, Chinese food hand letters increased by 23% on a quarterly basis.

The volume of retail sales increased by 11% in the first half of 2014.
