SWAROVSKI Adorned 95000 Crystal To Light The Oscar Awards Ceremony.
Hollywood, California, February 2015 - Austria's imitation crystal brand SWAROVSKI has now added eight degrees to the venue for the Oscar prize presentation ceremony, the Losangeles theatre in Losangeles.
This year, SWAROVSKI has been awarded product designer of Tony Award (third Award) for two consecutive years.
Derek McLane
In cooperation, the use of 95000 SWAROVSKI imitation crystals has brought unprecedented glory to the awarding ceremony. A total of 36 million 600 thousand spectators from all over the world watched the event.
The stage design of Derek McLane is inspired by film director and music choreographer Busby Berkeley, which emanates the classical Hollywood style works. On the stage, a huge closing wall with 22200 SWAROVSKI crystal imitating faces is erected.
This wall is made up of nine craftsmen who spend 580 hours building 80 - 40 feet of border and weighing 250 pounds of imitation crystal.
In addition, SWAROVSKI provided 50100 imitated crystals for three separate stage screens, and 23000 additional 18 theatrical boxes for the theater.

Derek McLane, the product designer, said: "in designing this year's crystal closing wall, I was inspired by the works of Busby Berkeley, trying to create a large radial radial crystal.
The 22000 crystals of SWAROVSKI emit light from the center, just like the explosion effect.
And when designing stage screens, I want to create a feeling that the entire Dolby stage is a forest of SWAROVSKI crystal.
Nadja Oscar, executive director of SWAROVSKI executive board, said: "the image of Oscar is the biggest film maker in the world. So we are happy to cooperate with talented designers like Derek McLane again to bring SWAROVSKI's landmark brilliance to this event.
