3D Vision Guided Robot For Textile Industry

Qiu Yitai, director of the research and development center of the smart micro system center of the Institute of technology, said that the current textile factories mainly rely on human resources for clothing proofing, because the human operation will lead to visual fatigue, low concentration or personal problems, resulting in a decline in quality. In order to reduce the waste, some garment factories are just laying out a cloth, and they can be divided into many processes, such as cutting, sewing, straight edges or round edges.

Due to the complexity of the process, the total use of manpower will lead to 7-10 days of proofing process, which is difficult to meet the demand for textile supply chain with short delivery time. In the face of the pain points of textile producers, it is possible to replace some manual manipulators to further enter the garment factories to improve the existing proofing process. For example, now, the Institute has assisted the textile factory, Hongyuan Xingye, to introduce the machine arm with 3D vision guidance, and integrate the original sub station proofing process into one stop operation. The auxiliary industry can achieve rapid proofing under a small number of needs.

However, Qiu Yitai said that visual guidance will inevitably encounter the problem of light reflection, and some clothing manufacturers will use acrylic or metal materials to fix the cloth, which will affect the accuracy of the robot arm. For this reason, the Institute for research and development has also developed a 3D vision guided robot that can resist reflection. Integrating anti reflective technology into the same 3D lens can reduce the obstruction of smooth surface to 3D vision.

The technology research institute said that the introduction of the technology in the future could avoid the influence of metal template reflection caused by machine vision, effectively locate the location of cloth and the path of stitching, and predict that the fastest 1 working days could be completed, which could save more than 50% manpower.
