The Swiss Confederation General Administration of Economic Affairs announced in April 8th that medical protective materials are currently playing an important role in the fight against new crown outbreaks. Because of its limited output and dependence on imports, the federal committee has decided to temporarily exempt the importation of important medical products for the purpose of improving the supply of such materials and ensuring the convenience and low cost of imports.

Such medical materials include masks, medical gloves, protective clothing, protective glasses, disinfectant supplies and so on. Importers do not need to provide certificates of origin at the time of importation, and are exempt from import by government or individuals. The provision came into effect on April 10, 2020 and was implemented in October 9, 2020.
