"In the first three quarters, China's foreign trade has stabilized and improved better than expected, with enhanced contribution and vitality." Li Xingqian, director of the foreign trade department of the Ministry of Commerce, said that from a historical comparison, the import and export scale reached a new high in the same period. In the first three quarters, China's total import and export volume reached 23.12 trillion yuan, an increase of 0.7%. Among them, exports were 12.71 trillion yuan, an increase of 1.8%, and imports were 10.41 trillion yuan, down 0.6%. The scale of China's import and export reached a record high in the same period.

From the horizontal comparison, the international market share has steadily increased. According to WTO data, in the first half of this year, China's export growth rate was 7.8 percentage points higher than the global average, and the international market share increased by more than 1 percentage point compared with the same period last year, reaching a record high in the same period. The increase of both trade scale and market share is determined by China's basic foreign trade market and comprehensive strength.

At the same time, Li Xingqian pointed out that the further spread of the epidemic will lead to the continued shrinking of the international market demand, the obstruction of the global industrial chain supply chain, the obvious increase of uncertain and unstable factors, and the complex and severe situation facing China's foreign trade.
