According to the latest report of the US agricultural counsellor, in 2020 / 21, the cotton planting area of Turkey is 350000 hectares, which is 38.6% lower than that of 570000 hectares in the previous year. The cotton output is expected to be 625000 tons, a decrease of 16.7% year-on-year. In recent years, the decline of cotton yield per unit area, low cotton price, rising cost, new crown epidemic situation, good profit of competitive crops and less government subsidies are the main reasons for the decline of cotton planting area.
