Local Industry: Tibet Releases Regional Public Brand "Tibetan Cashmere"

The press conference for the regional public brand of "Tibetan cashmere" was held in Lhasa on the 20th. The conference released the second regional public brand of Tibetan agriculture and animal husbandry, "Tibetan cashmere".

At the press conference, Luo Dan, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region, introduced that Tibet actively promoted the establishment of the regional public brand of "Tibetan cashmere", and successfully created the second regional public brand of Tibetan agriculture and animal husbandry, "Tibetan cashmere", with the approval of the State Market Supervision Bureau and other ministries and commissions.

He said that cashmere goats are an important characteristic breed in Tibet, with a breeding history of thousands of years. Tibetan cashmere goats are mainly distributed in Ali region, the west of Naqu City and the northwest of Shigatse City. The pure white rate of goats in the core areas of cashmere goat breeding in Ritu, Nima, Cuoqin and other counties is more than 93%.

As early as 2018, Ritu County in Ali region successfully registered a national geographical indication of "Ritu cashmere". In 2023, it was awarded the title of "China's high-quality cashmere supply base" by China Wool Textile Industry Association.

It is reported that through years of efforts, Tibet has successively built three cashmere goat breeding farms in Ritu County, Cuoqin County and Nima County of Naqu City in Ali region, Geji and Gaize in Ali region, and four cashmere goat breeding farms in Shenza and Bange of Naqu City. The cashmere goat industry has become an important pillar industry and an industry that enriches the people.

In 2022, Tibet successfully applied for the establishment of the advantageous characteristic industrial clusters of Tibetan cashmere goats in Ali and Shigatse, covering seven counties including Ritu County, Gaer County, Geji County, Cuoqin County, and Saga County, Saga County, and Zhongba County. With a capital of 50 million yuan, Tibet will comprehensively promote the development of the industrial chain such as the improvement of basic conditions of cashmere goat industry, breeding of improved varieties, processing and sales.

He said that after more than a year of establishment, the industrial layout and industrial system of cashmere goats have been continuously optimized, and the number of operating entities of cashmere industry has continued to increase. The number of enterprises engaged in cashmere goat breeding and cashmere industry production and processing in the cluster has reached 6, the number of cooperatives has reached 42, and nearly 5000 farmers have joined the community, which has radiated and driven more than 20000 people to find jobs, helping to promote the process of industrialization, Drive farmers and herdsmen to increase production and income.

Luo Dan said that in the next step, Tibet will promote the high-quality and efficient operation of the "Tibetan cashmere" brand, increase the publicity and promotion of regional public brands of "Tibetan cashmere", boost the high-quality development of Tibetan cashmere industry, and let high-quality Tibetan cashmere go out of Tibet to the whole country.
