Industrial Cluster: Pay Attention To The Forecast Of Cotton Planting Area Of Brazil ABRAPA Next Year

The latest forecast of the Brazilian Cotton Farmers Association (ABRAPA) shows that the cotton planting area in Brazil in 2024/25 (i.e. 2025/26 of USDA) is expected to be 2.138 million hectares, 10% more than the area in 2023/24 (i.e. 2024/25 of USDA) predicted by Brazil CONAB. The first batch of new cotton planting will begin soon.

According to the unit yield of 1839 kg/ha, ABRAPA estimates that Brazil's cotton output in 2024/25 (i.e. 2025/26 of USDA) will be 3.97 million tons, an increase of 8.6% over CONAB's forecast of 2023/24 (i.e. 2024/25 of USDA).

Foreign research institutions believe that the domestic prediction in Brazil is somewhat optimistic. Considering that La Nina phenomenon is happening, it will lead to the delay of rainfall in the central and western regions of Brazil and the central and southern regions. The delay of soybean sowing will postpone the sowing of the second crop cotton, which may mean that the intended area and yield per unit area are reduced, and the rainfall in the rainy season in the central and northern regions may be less.
