Brazilian Cotton Growers Association Visits China Cotton Textile Industry Association

On November 22, a delegation of 10 led by the Brazilian Cotton Growers Association (ABRAPA) visited the China Cotton Textile Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as the China Cotton Industry Association). Li Jie, vice president and secretary-general of the China Cotton Industry Association, Guo Zhanjun, assistant president and deputy secretary-general, Xu Xiaoyuan, deputy secretary-general of the Brazil Cotton Growers Association, and Mr Alexandre Pedro Schenkel, President of Brazilian Cotton Exporters Association, Mr Miguel Rodes Faus and others had a discussion and exchange. The meeting was presided over by Li Jie, Vice President and Secretary General of the China Cotton Association.

In recent years, Brazilian cotton has been favored by more and more cotton textile enterprises with its good quality and price advantages, and its export volume has increased significantly. Especially this year, Brazil's export of cotton to China has exceeded that of the United States to China, becoming China's largest source of cotton imports. The delegation led by the Brazilian Cotton Growers Association visited this time, hoping to understand the use of Brazilian cotton by Chinese cotton textile enterprises, so as to improve the market competitiveness of Brazilian cotton.

At the meeting, Deputy Secretary General Xu Xiaoyuan introduced the main business of the China Cotton Association and the basic operation of the Chinese cotton textile industry, and fed back the use of Brazilian cotton by Chinese cotton textile enterprises and their suggestions. Mr Alexandre Pedro Schenkel introduced Brazilian cotton planting, development opportunities and challenges in detail, showed the participants the Brazilian cotton quality traceability system and sustainable certification system, and hoped that the China Cotton Textile Industry Association could come to Brazil to learn about cotton planting.

Through this discussion and exchange, the two sides have a deeper understanding. In the future, the two sides will continue to strengthen communication, enhance mutual trust, consolidate and deepen cooperation in cotton and cotton textile business between the two countries, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
