Exports Of Handicrafts In India Rose Sharply In October

Driven by the demand growth in the Latin American market, exports of handicrafts in India rose sharply in October, up 32% over the same period last year, and exports increased from US $41 million in 2010 October to US $55 million this year.
Hand printed fabrics and scarves and shawls became the main contributors to export growth in October this year. Their exports increased by 44% and 30% respectively over the same period last year.

Markets, such as demand in Europe and the United States, declined, but orders from emerging markets, such as Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, increased.
In the export of handicrafts in India,
about
60% of them are exported to the European Union and the US market.
In the first 7 months of fiscal year 2011-12, exports of handicrafts in India increased by 20% to 100 million US dollars over the same period last year.
According to the estimate of the Export Promotion Association of handicrafts, in the current fiscal year,

Exports in the last fiscal year increased sharply to $2 billion 300 million, an increase of 26% over the same period last year.
